We know that Ezekiel prophesies a coalition of invading armies come against Israel. One of those is Gog-Magog/Meschach, usually described as Russia. If anyone a year ago would have said the sleeping bear would awaken, they would have been put in a loony bin. But in 2008 Russia came alive again, brandishing swords as they sailed their warships all around the Caribbean and South America, chatting with China, supplying arms to Iran, Lebanon...and now using natural gas as a political weapon against Ukraine (who has just happened to want to join NATO and allow the US to install missile shields on their territory along with Poland and the Czech Republic.
The US feared retaliation by Russia and lo, here it is: in a dispute over the Ukrainian debt for gas, Russia has turned off the flow. The following news article is not directly related to Gog/Magog but is a precursor illustrating Russia's rising.

But a wave of recent earthquake activity is raising fears that have their origins 642,000 years ago, when a Yellowstone "supervolcano" exploded so violently that it created the caldera itself. Today, such an explosion - 1,000 times more powerful than the explosion of Mount St. Helens in 1980 - would not only cover most of the U.S. with ash but also throw so much dust into the atmosphere that the world's climate could change.

Apostasy
Timothy tells us, as well as Jesus and Matthew, that the End Times' main characteristic will be deception. Deception will run as an evil black line through all the other signs...including Apostasy.

Mt 24:10-11, At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
Oprah Winfrey: Preparing The Way For The One World Religion?
Imagine a religion where Jesus did not come to die on the cross, where there is no heaven, no hell, no sin, no salvation, no doctrine, where all spiritual paths in the world are equally valid and where "god" is in you and in everything else you see. That is the religion of Oprah Winfrey. The truth is that there is a huge movement towards a one world religion where all spiritual paths are equally valid (except if you believe in Jesus Christ), and Oprah is right in the forefront of that movement.
Over the past few years Oprah Winfrey has gone from being just a talk show host to being one of the world's most influential spiritual leaders. According to Forbes, Oprah is worth 1.4 billion dollars, but these days she seems much more interested in spiritual matters than in building her empire. In fact, Oprah has become such a spiritual icon in America that USAToday has called her "a spiritual leader for the new millennium, a moral voice of authority for the nation." In an unscientific poll conducted on Beliefnet.com, 33% of the 6,600 respondents said that Oprah has had "a more profound impact" on their spiritual lives than their pastors or priests.

Meanwhile, though not related to prophecy but of interest, more lawsuits have been lodged demanding proof Mr Obama is qualified to be President. The latest are by former military servicemen, one, a retired Air Force Colonel. The Supreme Court has scheduled two more conferences, Jan 9 and Jan 16, to discuss the issue.

An unscientific poll by America Online suggests more and more people are having second thoughts about Barack Obama's eligibility to occupy the Oval Office.
Those who raised questions about his vague history before the election largely drew scorn from the mainstream media, which cited an online image from Obama's campaign that purportedly proved his U.S. citizenship with a Hawaiian "Certification of Live Birth."
But the latest results from the America Online poll say only 41 percent of the participants now believe there is no issue to be investigated.
Fifty-three percent nationwide, and majorities in 45 states individually, say "yes" when asked if there is "any merit" to the controversy surrounding his citizenship. Even in Obama's own state, Illinois, the opinion is split 47-47 percent on the issue.
In other words, the issue is not going away, In fact, it has grown.
I read an interesting editorial today. Food for thought: the author thinks a period of sunshine is needed for the rapture. Jesus said the removal of the Bride would occur during a time of calm. "Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh" (Matt. 24:44). It wouldn't seem to fit the "think not" hour if the world descended into economic and political chaos." Something to think about anyway. All we do know is that it will be unexpected. In His time!
Oh, what interesting times we live in! To see and experience God's work so visibly and directly! Let us all ring the bell that He is coming soon, and pray for the Holy Spirit to convict the hearts of those whom we know who are still in bondage to their sin.
